Staying in Pickering for a long weekend and came across the black swan while walking the dogs. Omg what a find had the most amazing evening meal. The dogs were accepted with dog threats and a lovely friendly atmosphere. We will be back
Really nice pub. Such a warm welcome. I only booked a single room but they upgraded me to a double. The room was spotless and so was the bathroom. Meals where limited but I was warned before booking a table. But what they had to offer was perfect. You must try there own ale brewed on site absolutely perfect. When I'm in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to book here again.
Limited lunch menu,but soup/sandwiches fresh & tasty. Staff cheerful and courteous. Main complain was that the place was cold. A dismal fire:needed serious attention to make it warm & welcoming.
My second stay at the Black Swan, and it confirmed my reasons for liking this popular Market Town pub. The evening menu majors on a modest range of 'main-line' dishes (plus specials): I had a home-made beef pie with a variety of correctly cooked vegetables, followed by an excellent Sticky Toffee pudding with sauce and ice-cream. All was washed down with a very distinctive IPA brewed on site. My room was smartly decorated, comfortable, and pleasingly quiet.Other things I especially liked: warm staff, good atmosphere, and a bar which welcomes (well behaved) dogs. I look forward to staying here again when I next visit the area - thank you!
This is an an amazing find. Lovely good, lovely pub, lovely rooms and most importantly the hosts and all the staff are really lovely. Nothing is too much trouble and they treat you like they know you personally. If you're looking forward for somewhere to stay, drink or eat in Pickering, this is the place!
